Built in the 1900s
McKinley was assassinated in 1901 and Theodore Roosevelt served until 1909. The San Francisco earthquake and fire destroyed much of that city in 1906, the same year the Antiquities Act gave the president power to set aside national monuments. The Wright brothers flew in 1903 and Ford introduced the Model T in 1908.
2,349 places on the National Register have a construction year in the 1900s on record. They stand in 53 states and territories. 25 are National Historic Landmarks.
Construction years come from Wikidata, matched on National Register reference number. Only plain four-digit years are counted, so a place recorded as circa or as a range is left out. Data refreshed September 19, 2026.
