Built in the 1730s
Georgia was chartered in 1732 and settled at Savannah the next year, the last of the thirteen colonies. The Great Awakening began in the Connecticut Valley and spread after George Whitefield started preaching in the colonies. Newspapers and printing shops multiplied in the larger ports.
