Built in the 1830s

Andrew Jackson served until 1837 and Martin Van Buren followed. The Indian Removal Act of 1830 led to the forced removal of the Cherokee, Choctaw and other southeastern nations. The Panic of 1837 ended a long boom in land and canal building, and Greek Revival was by then the common style for anything meant to look public.

461 places on the National Register have a construction year in the 1830s on record. They stand in 40 states and territories. 24 are National Historic Landmarks.
